In our offices in Leuven, Belgium, we are searching for a (Sr) Front end design Engineer.

When an entire city needs to be rendered into a 3D model in-flight, utilities buried deep under soil need to be uncovered, highly complex infrastructure projects need to be implemented and even when crime scene investigation needs to be documented – that’s Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon. More than 5,000 employees in 33 countries help us develop the latest technologies for Reality Capture, survey and measurement.

Leica Geosystems is looking for a highly motivated, passionate, and energetic individual to join the Reality Cloud Studio development team in Leuven, Belgium. We are developing the next generation of highperformance Reality Capture Cloud applications and their associated deployments for a vibrant and wide customer base. As a Front-end design Engineer, you will work closely with PMs and the development team to design and develop solutions for Hexagon’s cloud based Digital Reality. Given the sheer size and complexity of the domain you will take part in a team that pushes the technology and infrastructure to its limits.

What to expect:

• To create and implement modern and engaging designs for our web application.

• To collaborate on the UI/UX design and development across the team.

• To conduct user research and testing to understand the needs and preferences of our target audience

• To stay up-to-date with new design trends and best practices and use these regularly

• To shape the platform and application as we grow and develop new functionality

• To have loads of fun in a great team, and be truly challenged by your colleagues

Tools & Technologies Used:

• Figma or similar design tools

• Typescript, React, GraphQL, Playwright

• 2D/3D rendering technologies

You are the person to look for when it comes to:

• Using UX best practices and design thinking to solve problems and create solutions

• Creating user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing web interfaces that can handle large and complex (geospatial) data 

• Working with design systems and style guides to ensure consistency, and reusability of design elements

• Communicating and presenting your design ideas and rationales clearly and effectively

We’d like to hear your insights and experience on the following topics as well:

• Software craftsmanship and lean software development

• Coaching the team and fostering a culture of continuous growth and learning

• User centered design

Interacting with the larger team (Backend, DevOps, QA and Product Management) and ensuring best practices across the board is a big part of this role as we strongly support close collaboration and foster a continuous learning mentality.
